Planning

Planning Process

Uttlesford District Council are the local authority responsible for deciding planning applications.

The majority of applications are decided by Planning Officers in line with the Uttlesford Local Plan which sets out the Council's planning policies.  Significant planning applications are considered by Uttlesford Planning Committee which is made up of elected District Councillors.  Parish Councils are important statutory consultees and can provide local information on the impact of developments.  All planning applications relating to Great Canfield are considered at Parish Council meetings.

Village Design Statement

Great Canfield has an approved Design Statement.  This sits outside the Uttlesford Local Plan and provides an assessment of the character of the village and elements of design that are of local significance.

Village Design Statements are a material consideration in determining planning applications.
