In Great Canfield Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) cover 9 tree groupings and 33 individual trees: in all 156 trees. TPOs have to be applied for and it is probable that many more trees in the village could be eligible.

In addition, Great Canfield has two areas of Ancient Woodland, Canfield Hart and Canfield Thrift, which are protected under UDC policies ENV7 and ENV8. Their location is shown in the following map.
